I’ve tried a lot of cleaning products over the years… and most of them either don’t work, have only one-use, or just end up sitting under the sink or in a closet untouched. I’ve narrowed my cleaning it down to a handful of products I actually use on repeat.
These are the ones that make cleaning faster, easier, and honestly just more manageable day-to-day. And because I hate trying to remember what needs to be cleaned (and when), I also made a simple printable checklist you can grab at the end.

Stick Vacuum (My Most Used Tool)

This is what I use daily.

It’s lightweight, easy to grab, and perfect for quick cleanups—especially in the kitchen, around the table, and high-traffic areas.

I don’t want to drag out a full vacuum every time there are crumbs on the floor, and this makes it way too easy to stay on top of it. The Dyson we owned before was not such a great investment piece. I’d say it worked really good for about a year. I never loved the battery life on it, the roll was always wrapped up in string and hair and I just wasn’t really that impressed.

PROS:

• Very sleek looking
• Charges quickly
• High and low suction power options
• Comes with two attachments
• Collect 99.999% of microdust in the air

CONS:

• You have to remove the filter to empty the dust bin
• Picks up everything besides cheerios

Robot Vacuum (The One That Keeps Everything Under Control)

This is what keeps things from getting out of hand.

I don’t rely on it for a deep clean, but it helps maintain everything in between—especially if you have kids, pets, or just constant foot traffic.

It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it.

Pros:

• Creates really clean, uniform vacuum lines (way better than my old Roomba)
• Quiet enough to run without it being annoying
• Mapping feature shows an actual layout of your house after the first run
• You can set no-go zones and target specific rooms for a deeper clean
• Can run even without a saved map (I use it upstairs now and just press clean)

Cons:

• Cleaning the filters is kind of annoying because there are so many (I buy this replacement set)
• The mapping setup can be a little confusing at first

Steam Cleaner (For a Deeper Clean Without Chemicals)

We also have the Bissell steam mop and I purchased these extra mop pads so I have one for every room. I like the fact I don’t have to use anything but water. The heat and steam will clean up messes and disinfect. They claim it will eliminate 99.9% of germs and bacteria with just the steam. There are no harsh chemicals or toxic fragrances being used. The bottom mop part pops off and you have a spot brush that has stiffer bristles for stubborn stickies.

Pros:

• Cleans and sanitizes using just steam (no chemicals) 
• Works really well on tile and grout
• Great for sticky or built-up messes
• Heats up fast (around 30 seconds) 
• Built-in scrub brush helps with tougher areas 

Cons:

• Only works on sealed hard floors (not for everything, I would try to avoid it on anything but tile)
• Corded, so you’re limited by outlet placement
• Not something I use daily—more of a deeper clean tool
